Put It All Together · Brain

How do all the brain's parts work together?

Spike, synapse, region, prediction, memory, emotion, decision, movement.

The simple answer

Light hits your eye and becomes spikes. Those spikes cross synapses to the back of your brain, where edges and motion are reassembled into a scene. The scene is checked against your brain's prediction, tagged for threat and significance, matched against memory, weighed against what you were trying to do — and if it matters, a command goes out.
